Assessment Criteria:

a) Understand the role of the first aider

b) Communicate effectively and manage an incident

c) Look after yourself and the casualty

d) Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency

e) Administer cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) promptly and effectively

f) Administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who:

is choking
is bleeding
is in shock

g) Administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to an unconscious casualty

h) Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries

i) Report accidents in the appropriate manner
